Recently, he’s added orchestras to his repertoire, performing with symphonies in select markets where he brings his powerful songs to majestic new heights. After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music, McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the US as a solo artist, with his full band or his acoustic trio. And to be able to play and travel and do what you like to do, it’s just been a real gift. Cause it’s definitely been our ticket all over the world. “I’ve been incredibly blessed by having that happen for us. “They were just sort of written in the spirit of the emotion, and they’ve kind of done their own thing and it’s always been sort of a mystery to me,” he says. McCain says the irony is that neither “Walk With You” nor “I’ll Be” was written to be a hit. I’m really glad that it found a home – especially in this time.” “Her insight into music is pretty amazing, and our friendship is one of the treasures of my life, really. “She’s a really beautiful person and an incredible musician,” McCain says. McCain says he did most of the songs on the new disc with writing partner Maia Sharp, who also produced the album. The album will contain not only “Walk With You,” but another powerful song he has been doing in concert called “Sober.” Quite the opposite of a wedding song, it’s about the dissolution of a relationship the song’s narrator realized is dysfunctional once he’s no longer intoxicated. It will be his first studio disc of new songs in more than three years and only his third in more than a decade, since he left Atlantic Records in 2001. ![]() I wasn’t ready to put out a full-length record, so they said, ‘Why don’t we put out a ‘best-of’? And I was like, ‘Well, if you’re feel it’s right.’ “īut the song will be re-released on “Mercy Bound,” a new full disc of songs McCain has since written and is set to release Aug. ![]() The small label with whom he was working at the time, Saguaro Road Records, “got real excited about the song and wanted to put it out on something. Because of how it came to be written, “Walk With You” first appeared not on an album of new songs, but on the compilation disc “The Best of Edwin McCain.” McCain says the song was the whole reason for releasing that album. ![]()
